Cioppino (fisherman's stew) dates back to 19th century San Francisco when Italian immigrants turned the catch of the day into a one pot meal with red wine, tomatoes, and fresh herbs and swabbed the bowl with sourdough bread. Jay's hearty version calls for bay scallops, shrimp, clams, stewed tomatoes, potatoes, onion, garlic, celery, and herbs.
